Can I get a banner the same day in Buffalo Grove or Lake Zurich?

Same day at our Rolling Meadows shop, which is a short run from both — roughly twenty minutes from Buffalo Grove down Route 83 or Milwaukee Avenue, and about the same from Lake Zurich on Rand Road. Send the artwork and size in the morning and it is usually rolled and waiting that afternoon. We do not deliver, but we do ship if driving in does not suit you.

What size should my banner be?

It depends far more on viewing distance than on the wall. A banner read from across a parking lot needs bigger type than one over a doorway, and bigger type needs more banner. Tell us where it is going and how far back people will be standing, and we will tell you the size that works rather than the size that fits.

What artwork do you need from me?

Whatever you have. A vector logo is ideal, a high-resolution image is fine, and a photo of your old banner or a sketch on paper is enough for us to work from. We set the layout and show it to you before anything is printed.

How long will a banner last outside?

Built the way described above, a season outdoors is routine and a year is common. What shortens it is almost always mounting: two ties instead of eight, so the banner flaps. Tie every grommet and it lasts.

Do I need a permit to hang it?

Possibly, and it varies by village. Temporary banners on commercial buildings and anything in a right-of-way are the usual triggers. Ask your village hall — it is a quick call, and it is their answer to give, not ours.

What actually makes a banner last

There is no federal rule for banners — nobody inspects one. What decides whether it is still readable next season is entirely how it was built:

Material weight. Thin banner stock tears at the grommet the first time it gusts. 13 oz scrim is the weight that holds.
Hemmed edges. A raw-cut edge frays and then unzips along the whole side. A folded, welded hem is what stops it.
Grommet spacing. Every two feet and every corner. Wider spacing lets the span belly out and flap, and flapping is what destroys banners.
Mesh where there is wind. A solid banner on a fence is a sail. Mesh lets air through and stays put — the trade is a slightly softer print.
How it is tied. Bungee or zip ties through every grommet, not rope through two corners. Most failures we see are the mounting, not the banner.

One honest caveat we would rather say up front: some towns require a permit for a temporary banner on a commercial building or in a right-of-way, and the rules differ from village to village. We print the banner — check with your village hall before you hang it, because that is a local question and we are not going to guess it for you.
