What makes a job same-day — and what does not
Nothing here is a trick. The work is fast because it is cut on site; the things that slow a job down are almost always paperwork, not production:
- Bring the name exactly as registered. The legal name on the door has to match your FMCSA registration or ICC licence character for character. LLC versus Inc, a missing comma, an ampersand instead of "and" — any of those means we stop and check rather than cut something you cannot legally run.
- Know your number before you arrive. USDOT number for interstate work, ILCC number for Illinois-only for-hire. Bring the paperwork or have it on your phone; we would rather read it than hear it.
- Come earlier in the day. The shop runs 11:00 to 5:00, Monday to Friday. A truck that rolls in at 11:30 has a far better same-day outcome than one arriving at 4:45.
- Call ahead if you are driving in. If you are coming from Joliet or Rockford rather than around the corner, call or text first and we will have the set cut before you pull in.
- Bigger jobs need a conversation. Full wraps, large fleet runs, custom printed logos and anything needing a proof round are real work with a real timeline. We will tell you honestly when it will be ready instead of promising today and missing.
One thing worth knowing if you are here because of an inspection: a marking violation is cheap for an officer to write and expensive for you, because it puts someone alongside your truck looking at everything else. Fixing the door the same day closes that door too. Under 49 CFR 390.21T the marking has to stay legible — faded, peeling or dirt-obscured counts the same as missing, so a set that "still reads if you get close" is already a problem.
