About Trucker Signs
Trucker Signs is a small, trucker-focused sign shop in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. We make the decals, lettering and signs that keep commercial vehicles compliant and looking sharp — and we do most of it the same day.
What we do
Every day, owner-operators and fleets come into our shop off Newport Drive with a new truck, a fresh authority, or a faded door that needs redoing. We cut US DOT and MC number decals, magnetic signs, trailer lettering, banners, HAZMAT placards and full fleet graphics — and every order goes out with a free squeegee and a step-by-step guide so you can put it on yourself, clean and bubble-free.
We work with drivers all day long, and we have learned the compliance side cold: what has to go on the door, how big it has to be, and what an inspector looks for. That is why we write the guides on this site — to save drivers the confusion we hear at the counter every week.
Not sure whether you want permanent vinyl or magnetic signs? Magnetic signs need no installation at all — you just set them on any steel door and pull them off whenever you like. That makes them a favorite for trucks that double as a personal vehicle, for leased rigs, and for anyone who swaps branding between jobs. Permanent cut vinyl is the pick for a truck that lives on the interstate and needs DOT-compliant, weatherproof markings that will not slide or blow off. Tell us how the truck is used and we will point you to the right one.
What we know
- US DOT & MC number requirements under 49 CFR 390.21T — size, color, placement and legibility.
- When a vehicle needs a USDOT number, MC authority, or both — including hotshots and heavy pickups.
- Illinois-specific rules: ILL.C.C. intrastate marking, ILCC authority, IFTA and apportioned plates.
- Choosing between permanent vinyl and removable magnetic signs for how your truck is actually used.
- How to apply your own decals cleanly and bubble-free — the dry and wet methods we walk you through.
